Battal, seeking revenge for his murdered family, targets Janosh. Whether Battal will succeed in killing Janosh is uncertain. Notaras disapproves of his daughter Anna's relationship with Guistiniani, preferring her to marry Konstantinos. Anna's suicide disrupts Notaras' plans, creating uncertainty about her survival and Notaras' next move.
